Recognised Surveyors

Your vessel must be inspected initially and subsequently as per the requirements of Maritime Rule 46.17 by an MNZ approved surveyor who has been issued recognition under Maritime Rule 46.29. All new builds must be undertaken under the supervision of a recognised surveyor.

A surveyor’s recognition is linked to the material of the boat, the overall length and the operating limits of the boat.

Where design approval is required the vessel plans must be submitted to an MNZ recognised naval architect.
