Applying for an Exemption

The Director of Maritime New Zealand may exempt a ship from a maritime rule under certain special circumstances.

Upon advice and recommendation from a Maritime NZ approved surveyor, the ship owner must apply in writing (using the form listed below) giving full details of the ship and the reason the exemption is requested.
