The Rescue Coordination Centre New Zealand (RCCNZ) is responsible for coordinating major maritime, aviation and beacon-related search and rescue missions in New Zealand’s Search and Rescue Region. These incidents are termed ‘Class III’ missions. RCCNZ also assists with other rescues when required.
RCCNZ is staffed by a team of internationally-trained search and rescue officers, who work a roster system that provides coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The staff have a wide range of experience in aviation, marine and land search and rescue.
RCCNZ is part of Maritime NZ, which is a Ministry of Transport crown agency. RCCNZ is located at Avalon, Wellington, New Zealand.
